Legal Medicine attends 42 daily cases of sexual violence to minors

According to a report prepared by the National Institute of Legal Medicine in 2020 there were 15,359 cases of sexual violence, in which the victims were minors.

The above means that daily on average 42 minors were allegedly abused.

According to Legal Medicine, the age groups in which the most cases were registered were: between 5 to 9 years with 4,063 processes; and those from 10 to 14 years old with 7,257 cases attended.

In addition, 13,011 minors of female gender were victims of sexual violence, and 2,304 of the masculine gender.

This type of crime includes penalties ranging from 8 years in prison to 30 years, according to criminal lawyers.
