LG makes webOS, its popular TV ecosystem, available to other partner TV brands, completely disrupting the status quo of an industry recognized by the various operating systems owned by different manufacturers.
LG expands its experience well beyond TV production, encompassing the development of the webOS TV software platform and its adoption by other TV brands. This step has the potential to completely reshape the TV industry for technology and content providers, significantly increasing LG’s presence and prominence in the global home entertainment market.
Being an integral element of the acclaimed LG’s home entertainment ecosystem, webOS offers exceptional ease of use to brand TV owners, thanks to its intuitive interface design, since 2014. webOS TV licensees will now receive the familiar and renowned UX design, along with a rich feature set such as voice search and control, integrated AI algorithms and simple connectivity, earning positive praise from industry and consumers. With LG webOS TV, partners will also have access to a wide range of content options, including access to global streaming apps such as Netflix, Youtube, Amazon Prime Video, in addition to the DAZN sports streaming service and LG Channels , the company’s free premium content streaming service. Compatible TV models will also feature the exclusive Magic Motion controller.
More than two dozen TV manufacturers from around the world are already LG’s partners for the webOS platform, including brands such as RCA, Ayonz and Konka, and this number is expected to rise in the future. The webOS ecosystem is supported by technological partners such as Realtek, Nuance, Gracenote, CEVA and Universal Electronics, among many others.
