Lidl totally under pressure in Belgium: “It’s unprecedented!”

The crisis spares no one, not even a giant like Lidl. This Friday, De Standaard revealed the results of the chain of stores for the last year. And these are not positive since the sign recorded, in Belgium, a loss of 51.2 million euros.

An “unprecedented” deficit for Lidl, which loses 1.94 euros net for every 100 euros in turnover achieved, according to the explanations of our Flemish colleagues. This is in addition to sales down 2.2%. In short, complicated figures for the brand which testify to great difficulty in the current crisis but which Lidl did not want to comment on.

Because if the hard discounters benefit from an increase in the number of customers, they are unable to fully pass on the increase in costs they face. This does not bode well since the situation could quickly become untenable. With a price increase for customers in the end?
