Liga – The first move of the transfer window: Ferran Torres joins FC Barcelona

Ferran Torres is a new FC Barcelona player. The Manchester City winger, who arrived in Catalonia on Sunday, spent his medical examination at Barcelona hospital on Monday morning before signing his contract with the current seventh in La Liga. He officially committed Tuesday for 5 years, in exchange for an amount estimated at 55 million euros according to the Spanish press. An amount that makes him the most expensive Spanish rookie in the club’s history, exceeding David Villa and the 40 million euros invested by the FCB in 2010.

The one who was the Catalan club’s priority for the winter transfer window is Xavi’s second recruit, after Dani Alves. His transfer will be effective on January 3, the date of the opening of the transfer window in Spain and the presentation of the new Blaugrana, if La Liga validates his registration, which is not certain because of financial fair play.

A year and a half after his departure from Valencia for Manchester City, where he was under contract until 2025, the 21-year-old Spanish international (22 caps) is already making his return to the country. The officialization of his transfer comes after weeks of rumors, Pep Guardiola even confirming the desires of his young player to leave at a press conference last Thursday.

Determined to join the Blaugranas, Ferran Torres has prepared for Valencia in recent days, posting on social networks some images of his training sessions. Something to reassure also about his state of health, he who has not played since his fractured foot in October. With the Skyblues, the winger will have played 43 matches and scored 16 goals, enriching his trophy cabinet with a Premier League in 2021 and a League Cup won the same year.
