American actress Lili Reinhart knows how to distinguish between her love life and her career.
Confession interview with the young 24-year-old star. Exclusively for “20minutes”, Lili Reinhart has agreed to take stock of the recent controversy surrounding her, as well as her separation from Cole Sprouse.
Is it correct that you want to leave “Riverdale” because you feel in prison on the set of this series, in Vancouver?
Thank you for asking me the question that allows me to set the record straight. I never said that I was going to leave “Riverdale” after season 5, which we are starting filming. I am well in the series and I intend to stay there if the production continues beyond the unseen episodes that we will be filming in the coming months. My problem is the constraints surrounding the shoot, but it’s because of the virus. I had to arrive in Vancouver two weeks before the first day of filming to respect the Canadian quarantine. And I spent all this time locked in my hotel room. I’m not to be pitied, but it’s complicated.
N’isn’t it as complicated d’play the same girl on TV for five years when you receive cinema proposals?
It’s not easy, that’s for sure. I would like to have a career like Tilda Swinton who is my idol. To shoot “Hustlers” with Jennifer Lopez last year, it was huge because so different from Betty in “Riverdale”. This is also why I accepted “Chemical Hearts” for Amazon. It’s a romantic comedy, but far removed from what I’ve done before. I play Grace Town, a young disabled girl who hides a deep trauma. As long as I can go from one extreme to the other in my career, I’m happy.
You mentioned in the press your separation from’with Cole Sprouse. NOT’isn’t it difficult to continue to be partners in the’screen?
Love comes and goes: that’s life! Many actors become friends or lovers on the set. This is the reality of the job when you are with the same people for weeks or months. Some end up having relationships and it doesn’t always work out over time. Cole and I are professionals. We discussed it together. The end of our romantic relationship is not going to affect the show in any way.
Will we continue to see you both together in future episodes?
I hope so. I love seeing Betty and Jughead together on the show. I think they’re both very good. I spoke about it with Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa, the creator of “Riverdale”, to tell him that I especially did not want to change anything in the scenario of future episodes.
It takes a lot of self-control if you have to kiss your ex on cameras, right?
Yes it’s hard, difficult and complicated, but we knew Cole and I that it could happen. I think there is still a lot of love between the two of us, even if it’s just friendship. I believe that everything will be fine between us on the set.
