Actor couple Jason Momoa and Lisa Bonet have split up. The two officially announced this in a joint statement.
Jason Momoa (42) and Lisa Bonet (54) have split up. After almost five years of marriage, they announced their separation in a joint statement on Instagram on Wednesday.
“We have all felt the pressure and changes in these times of change … A revolution is underway and our family is no exception … we feel and grow from the seismic changes,” the joint statement said. “And this is how we share our family news that we are going separate ways in marriage,” is in white on a black background on his account to read.
“We are not communicating this because we think it is newsworthy, but so that we can continue our lives with dignity and honesty,” the statement continues. “The love between us goes on and develops as it would like to be known and lived. We give each other the freedom to be who we learn to be …”
Along with the announcement, Momoa shared several photos in his post, including one of a sunset sky, one of a person holding a baby bird and a shirt that said, “May my soul scream love,” and another close-up of the hands holding the holding young bird.
The great love story between Lisa Bonet and Jason Momoa began in 2005
The couple started dating in 2005 after meeting through mutual friends at a jazz club. While on the Late Late Show with James Corden, 43, Momoa talked about his first date with Bonet and said, “We were just in the right place at the right time.”
“I dyed my hair for her. I had dreadlocks, she had dreadlocks. I literally turned around and saw her and she said, ‘I’m Lisa.’ I turned to my girlfriend and pretended to scream. I got fucking fireworks going on, man, “he said. The two eventually met for dinner. “We sat down, she ordered a Guinness and that was it,” he added. “I adore Guinness. We had Guinness and grits and the rest is history”.
The couple had their first child, Lola, in July 2007 and their second child, Nakoa Wolf, was born in December 2008. Lisa Bonet is also the mother of Zoë Kravitz (33), whom she got with her ex-husband Lenny Kravitz (57). Although Momoa and Bonet were initially believed to have married in November 2007, the couple did not tie the knot until October 2017.
