A fire broke out around 7 a.m. this morning at the Saint-Paul senior residence, a complex intended for the elderly but not medically provided in the 13th arrondissement of Marseille. The fire started in a room for an as yet undetermined reason. Despite the arrival of firefighters only 6 minutes after the alert, a woman died among the 48 occupants of the evacuated residence, some by means of large ladders. Two other elderly people were slightly poisoned by the fumes, which seriously damaged the premises.
