The draw for the third round (January 9 and 10) of the FA Cup must have revived bad memories in Liverpool. The reigning English champions will indeed travel to Birmingham to challenge Aston Villa, where the Reds sank on October 4 (7-2). The other sizes of the British elite were however spared, such as Manchester City who will receive the other team from Birmingham or Manchester United who will receive Watford, relegated last season. Chelsea will welcome fourth division resident Morecambe as Premier League leaders Tottenham travel to Marine FC fans on Merseyside. Apart from Villa-Liverpool, two other matches will pit elite teams against each other: Arsenal-Newcastle and Wolverhampton-Crystal Palace.
