Thiruvananthapuram: An agreement was reached at the high level meeting to extend the existing lock down restrictions in the state till June 9. In the evening, Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan will make an announcement in this regard. It has also decided to avoid the triple lockdown in Malappuram.
Some concessions may be granted even if the lockdown is extended. It is learned that small scale industries will be allowed to operate. The coir and cashew industries will be allowed to operate with restrictions. There are also reports that companies with up to 50 percent of employees may be allowed to operate.
Kovid confirmed 22,318 cases in the state yesterday. The test positivity rate is 16%. The Department of Health recommends that the lockdown be relaxed only after the test positivity rate drops below 10 percent. It is reported that the decision was taken to extend the lock down considering this.
