Day by day progress is made towards a new edition of the Venezuelan Professional Baseball League (LVBP), a tournament in which Domingo Álvarez will be honored and scheduled to start on October 22; in the case of Zulia Eagleswill take flight against Leones del Caracas at the University Stadium.
Regarding the rapacious team, its president, Luis Rodolfo Machado, indicates in exclusive statements offered to Meridiano, part of the preparations for 2022/2023.
In this sense, he emphasizes that manager Marcos Davalillo will have former infielder Luis Ordaz as bench coach:
“Here we work for the new season, Marcos will be there from the beginning and since he does not have a contract with any organization in the Major League system, the coaching staff is being structured with people who are, the intention is that he is well armored”, underlines.
Similarly, Machado reiterates that Dernier Orozco will serve as pitching coach, a position he has already held in the Triple A affiliate of the St. Louis Cardinals, as well as in the previous version of the LVBP with Caribes de Anzoátegui, he also has experience serving the Águilas Cibaeñas of the Dominican Republic.
For Águilas del Zulia, it is an immediate objective to restore their image before the fans, because in the last tournament a bad start affected their possibility of postseason, finishing seventh among the eight casts with a mark of 20 wins and 29 losses, 12 games from the first place occupied by Navigators of the Magellan, as well as 5 of the fifth place in the hands of Caribs of Anzoátegui.
The last title of the winged ones dates back to 2016/2017, and since then their global mark in the regular round is 115-140 for a winning percentage of .451.
