(Mac) App Store: the price of apps will increase in France (and in Europe)

Apple responds methodically to the decline of the euro against the dollar. After having revised upwards the price of many of its products, including the iPhone at the beginning of the month, now it is attacking its download platforms.

In an email sent to developers, it announces the introduction of new tariffs throughout the euro zone. The different pricing levels that Apple offers have been revised upwards. Thus, it will no longer be possible to find apps at €0.99 or €1.09 depending on the country in the euro zone. The new floor price is €1.19. Apps costing up to now €1.99 or €2.29 depending on the country, will be sold in the future for €2.49.

This price increase will take effect on October 5 [document PDF de nouveaux paliers]. It will affect all Apple stores, starting with the App Store and the Mac App Store. The Cupertino company specifies that this price increase concerns the price of applications and in-app purchases. Note, however, that subscription amounts are excluded from this price readjustment.

Depending on the evolution of exchange rates, Apple tends quite often to update the price of its various price levels. In August 2021, faced with the fall of the dollar, the apple brand had scaled down the price of apps in Europe.

It should be noted, however, that this is a worldwide increase. Apple announced a price increase in the Eurozone, but also in satellite countries of the Eurozone such as Poland and Switzerland, as well as in other countries such as China, Egypt, Japan, Malaysia, Pakistan, or even South Korea. In short, if you have purchases to make, it is better not to hang around.
