The President of Chad’s Transitional Military Council, Mahamat Idriss Déby Itno, met on Tuesday, July 26, with his Congolese counterpart, Denis Sassou-N’Guesso at the presidential lounge. It should be noted that this meeting enabled the two Heads of State to review a wide range of bilateral, regional and international issues of common interest.

Mahamat Idriss Déby was from Kinshasa where he participated, alongside his peers (Félix Antoine Tshisekedi Tshilombo, President of the Democratic Republic of Congo and current President of the ECCAS, Faustin Archange Touadera, President of the Central African Republic, Carlos Manuel Vila Nova, President of the Democratic Republic of Sao Tome and Principe), at the 21st ordinary session of the Conference of Heads of State and Government of the Economic Community of Central African States (ECCAS). The Authority welcomes the fact that, despite the multiple challenges, the transition process in Chad is continuing calmly. She welcomed the important steps that have been taken, in particular the preparations for the inclusive national dialogue scheduled for August 20 next. It should also be noted that the Conference congratulated the President of the Transitional Military Council, the Government and the people of Chad for respecting the international commitments to which the Republic of Chad has subscribed.
