Manchester City scored an away record after beating Arsenal in the Premier League. Pep Guardiola calmly responded to that.
When visiting Arsenal, Man City won 1-0. At the Emirates Stadium, Sunday (21/2/2021), Raheem Sterling’s quick goal in the second minute was the winner.
Riyad Mahrez’s cross from the right flank was completed by Sterling. Not with feet, but with a header.
Opta noted that Man City has now gone on to pick 11 away wins in all competitions. The Manchester blue team matched the record they set themselves in 2017, also under Guardiola.
As for Sterling, he became the third player to score a goal against Arsenal in three consecutive trips. Previously, Nicolas Anelka (4 goals until 2009) and Ian Harte (3 goals until 2003) broke into the Gunners’ goal in three away matches.
“Records are there to be broken one day. We will lose one day,” said Guardiola Daily Star.
“I was surprised when all the teams struggled, that we were consistent in the last few months. That’s why I’m more than happy to win by just 1-0.”
“Winning games like this 1-0 is what we need to do. People look at our winning pace and think it’s very easy. I didn’t expect that,” he added.
City last lost on November 22, 2020. They were defeated by Tottenham Hotspur 0-2.
After that, City unbeaten in 25 games. In details, there are 22 wins and 3 draws that have been achieved.
