A man was arrested in northern Mexico on charges of beating his three children to death to get revenge on the mother, authorities said Sunday.
The Sonora State Attorney General’s Office said Sunday that the victims were 3, 7 and 8 years old. The homicides occurred on January 2 in the state of Hidalgo, central Mexico.
The detainee had called his father to tell him what he had done and he reported him to the Hidalgo authorities, the prosecution said in a statement.
The subject had fled to Sonora, where he was detained and returned to Hidalgo to face the charges.
The prosecution said the man had an argument with the children’s mother and killed them “to cause her great pain.”
“Apparently in revenge against his wife, he deprived his children of their lives,” according to the prosecution.
