Manchester City unveiled on Saturday the statues of Vincent Kompany and David Silva which have been installed in front of the Ethiad Stadium. “The first time I saw her I never imagined she was so tall. The pose means a lot to me too.”reacted Kompany, who was shown with his arms outstretched and his head slightly lowered.
Kompany, who left Manchester City in 2019 to return to Anderlecht, has won four English league titles, two FA Cups, and four League Cups with Cityzens.
“I never imagined to be recognized in such a way by such a fantastic club”, reacted the trainer of the RSCA. “My wife is from Manchester, my kids were born there and they go back to a place where they can see something that represents what their father has accomplished and it’s an indescribable feeling. The first time I saw her, I never imagined she would be so tall even though I’m a big boy. “
The statues were made by artist Andy Scott by assembling thousands of pieces of galvanized steel. At night, they will be illuminated with a blue light.
A third statue is planned for June 2020 bearing the effigy of Sergio Aguero. Manchester City fans will be able to get a close look at the statues at the Arsenal reception at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday.
