Maserati announces Formula E machine celebrating historic return to racing[F1-Gate.com]

Maserati will make a historic return to single-seater racing in 2023. The brand with the famous Trident logo on Tuesday unveiled the livery of his Gen3 Formula E vehicle.

Dubbed the Maserati Tipo Folgore after the 1926 Tipo 26 and all-electric road car series, the car was unveiled in Modena on Tuesday by CEO David Grasso.

Maserati MSG Racing Team said: “The Maserati Trident naturally stands out on the nose cone with the Maserati Corse logo.”

“The first racing car to bear the Trident logo was the Tipo 26, which debuted in the Targa Florio in 1926, driven by Alfieri Maserati and taking first place in its class.”

“96 years later, the Maserati Tipo Folgore, a bold expression of the Trident, enters the age of electrification, accelerating Maserati’s commitment to the brand’s 100% new electric range, the Folgore.”

The Italian manufacturer, part of the Stellantis automotive group, has built on the foundation of Venturi’s Formula E program but uses a powertrain designed by DS Automobiles.

Giovanni Sugro, Head of Maserati Corse, said: “Today’s unveiling of the Maserati Tipo Folgore is a testament to our audacity and reignites our competitive spirit and commitment to challenges beyond racing. I bought it.

During the Venturi era, the team has achieved four wins in the 2022 ABB FIA Formula E Championship. Newly appointed team boss James Rossiter, who took over from Susie Wolff, is confident his team will go full steam ahead in Saudi Arabia in January. James Rossiter said: “By combining the fame of Maserati with the experience, success and hard work of MSG (Monaco Sports Group), we believe we can achieve victory.”

“Now our focus is back on pre-season preparations and we need to make the most of our track time in Valencia after a promising private testing phase.”

“It’s very difficult to make predictions at this stage, but I’m confident that with a competitive package and Ed and Max at the wheel, we can have a successful season.”
