Eberl starts in Leipzig on December 15th

Negotiations have been going on for months, now it’s fixed: Max Eberl (48) will be the new managing director of sports at RB Leipzig. According to BILD information, he will start his new job on December 15th. Plenty of time to make decisions when the January 1 transfer window opens. His contract runs until the summer of 2026.

Negotiations were still going on between Leipzig and Gladbach on Monday morning, and the start time in particular was unclear until the very end. Eberl’s contract with Borussia, which runs until 2026, has been suspended since he left in January for health reasons.

According to BILD information, RB is now paying a fixed fee of EUR 2.5 million. Depending on the sporting performance of Leipzig, the sum can increase – it seems realistic that there will be at least one million look-ups.

Eberl there! This closes RB and Boss Oliver Mintzlaff (47) a large construction site. Since leaving Markus Krösche (42, now Frankfurt), RB has been without a sports director. The announcement of a successor was repeatedly postponed.

Mintzlaff and his team were able to compensate for the gap, but in the most recent sporting crisis, which has not yet been overcome after the 0: 3 in Gladbach, a strong sports director was missing. With Eberl, Mintzlaff keeps its promise of a “1a plus solution.”

Unlike his predecessors Krösche and Ralf Rangnick (63), Eberl is part of the management.
