Max Verstappen says he hopes Mick Schumacher will return to F1 after 2024.
Mick Schumacher, son of F1 legend Michael Schumacher, will lose his F1 seat for 2023. The Haas F1 team thinks the more experienced Nico Hulkenberg is a better driver than Schumacher, who has been a driver for two years.
Max Verstappen, who has known him since childhood because their fathers were friends, has offered words of encouragement to Schumacher, who regrets that he won’t be competing in F1 next year.
“I had a little talk with Mick and it’s not over yet,” Verstappen told Sky Sports.
“Of course it’s very disappointing, but he’s still young and I hope he’ll get another chance after next year.”
Mick Schumacher has yet to reveal his future plans, but hopes to do so soon. He is said to lose not only the F1 seat of the Haas F1 team but also the support of the Ferrari Driver Academy, and it is rumored that he will become a reserve driver of Mercedes F1 and start again as a training driver of Mercedes.
