At the Bretonneau CHRU in Tours, a 25-year-old woman with cancer in her left breast underwent more than twenty sessions to treat the bad breast. A confusion due to “a laterality error”, reports France 3.

“A laterality error occurred during the preparation of the treatment, resulting in the contouring of the left breast in place of the right breast as the area to be treated. (…) One of the factors contributing to this laterality error could be linked to the presence discrepant information in the report of the initial medical consultation”explained the Nuclear Safety Authority (ASN), which published an incident report on its website.
