The interview with the Duke of Sussex couple Harry and Meghan by the famous American host Oprah has been broadcast on American television and is scheduled to be broadcast on the British Independent Television (ITV) on the evening of March 8th, London time.
Harry and Meghan introduced their experiences in the British royal family, which caused shock waves on both sides of the Atlantic.
The BBC combed through 10 surprising details revealed in the interview.
1. The royal family “discuss how dark Megan’s baby may be”
One of the most important allegations in the interview was that the royal family had “several conversations” about how dark the skin of Meghan and Harry’s baby might be after they were born.
Megan said: “In the few months I was pregnant, I was worried and talked about how dark the skin might be after the baby was born.”
She also said that Harry was present during the conversation and that the content of the conversation was later told to her by Harry. Meghan and Harry refused to disclose which royal family member made the remarks.
Harry said, “That conversation, I will never share (with whom). I felt very uncomfortable at the time, I was a little shocked.”
Harry also said that his family never publicly commented on the “colonial tone” in media reports and articles, which made him very sad.
2. Megan said that she had thought about committing suicide and was refused help
Megan mentioned her loneliness and loss of freedom after joining the British royal family. She said, “The moment I joined the family was the last time I saw my passport, driver’s license, keys…until we came here (now Harry and Meghan live in California).”
She said that her mental health was very bad and she once “don’t want to live anymore.”
She also said that she once went to the “royal palace” to tell officials that she needed to seek help, but was told “no, that would be bad for the royal family.”
Megan revealed that she had gone to find “one of the most senior members” of the royal family and also to the human resources department of the palace, but “nothing was accomplished.”
3. Megan has found Diana’s friends
During the interview, the names of Harry’s mother and Princess Diana were mentioned many times to compare the similarities between Meghan and Diana’s life experiences in the royal family.
Megan said that when it’s difficult, I don’t know who to look for. “The one I’ve been looking for is Harry’s best friend,” “because, who else can understand what is going on inside the (royal) family?”

4. Kate “made Megan cry” – not the other way around
A few years ago, the media often reported a story that a few days before Meghan and Harry’s wedding, because of the flower girl dress, Kate, the Duchess of Cambridge, had a disagreement with Meghan, and she made Kate cry.
But Megan told Oprah that the opposite was true. Megan said that Kate later apologized and gave her flowers.
Megan explained that she was not trying to “depreciate” Kate, but that she wanted to correct the wrong report.
5. Harry feels that his father, Prince Charles, “disappointed him”
Oprah asked Prince Harry about his relationship with his family, especially his father, Prince Charles and his brother, Prince William.
Harry said that some time after retiring from his position as a “senior royal”, Charles “no longer answered my calls.”
“I feel really disappointed because he has had a similar experience. He knows how pain is, and Archie is his grandson.”
As for his brother William, Harry said that he loves his brother very much, and the two have gone through the most painful period of life together, “but now we are taking a different path.”
6. Harry, Meghan and the Queen have a good relationship
Harry said that his relationship with his grandmother and the queen was “very good.” The number of times he communicated with his grandmother in the past year-including playing videos with his son Archie-had exceeded many years before.
Meghan also praised the Queen. She said that before Harry and Harry performed their official duties together for the first time, the Queen gave her beautiful jewelry; when riding together, the Queen and her used the same blanket to keep warm.

7. Harry no longer has any financial support from the royal family
Harry said that in the first quarter of 2020, his family “completely cut off” financial support to him.
He said that the reason why he and Megan signed contracts with Netflix and Spotify to produce shows and podcasts was never premeditated, but because “I want to provide security for our family.”
“But, I have the (heritage) that my mother left for me. Without it, we would not be able to do all this.”
8. The truth behind a beautiful picture
Megan said that the night when he told Harry that he didn’t want to live, the two of them would go to the Royal Concert Hall together for an event.
Megan said that the photo taken that night became a permanent record.
She said that friends always said that the two of you look great, but, “The photo is zoomed in. All I can see is his tightly clasped hand.”
“We have smiles on our faces and we are doing the work that should be done, but in fact we are both trying to persevere. Every time the lights in the royal box go down, I cry.”

Nine, Megan “has not searched the Internet” before the royal family and Harry
Speaking of seeing the queen for the first time, Megan said she was surprised to learn that she was going to curtsey.
She said that she thought that all that was a “scenario” and would never happen at home; she practiced quickly before having lunch with the queen.
Megan also said that before she married into the royal family, she had never searched the Internet about the royal family; she also insisted that during her relationship with Harry, she had never searched the Internet for her future husband.
10. Harry and Meghan were actually married three days before the wedding
In 2018, under the attention of the world, Harry and Meghan held a grand wedding at Windsor Castle. But in the interview, the couple revealed that, in fact, three days before that, they had been married quietly, and they were married by the leader of the Anglican Church and the Archbishop of Canterbury.
Harry and Meghan said that they called the archbishop and said that the ceremony was only for the world to see, “We hope, it’s just the two of us… we got married in the backyard.”

Digression
Harry and Meghan also said that the second baby will be born this summer, “It’s a girl!”
Before the interview was about to end, Oprah asked Megan if his relationship with the prince had a successful ending. She said, “Better than any fairy tale you have ever read.”
