The Korean women’s badminton team secured the first place in the group with a win in the group stage of the World Team Championships. The men’s national team also finished second in the group and advanced to the quarterfinals.
The women’s national team defeated Taiwan 4-1 in the third round of Group C of the 2021 World Women’s Team Badminton Championships (Uber Cup) held in Aarhus, Denmark on the 13th (Korean time) and won all three. Earlier, the women’s national team defeated both Tahiti and Egypt 5-0 in the first and second rounds of the group stage, and confirmed early on to the quarterfinals.
Then, in the third round of Group B of the 2021 World Men’s Team Championships (Thomas Cup) held at the same place on the morning of the 14th, the men’s national team lost to Denmark 1-4 to secure second place in the group. The men’s national team also defeated Germany and France 4-1 and advanced to the quarterfinals regardless of the result of the third game.
The women’s national team will play in the quarterfinals against Denmark, second in Group D, on the 14th. The men’s national team quarterfinals will be held on the 15th, and the opponent will be decided after the remaining group stage matches are over.
The men’s and women’s national teams challenged the men’s and women’s team for the first time in history. In the Korean badminton tournament in 2018, the women’s team placed third and the men’s team advanced to the quarterfinals.
On the other hand, the World Team Badminton Championships, held every two years, are played in 3 singles and 2 doubles matches, and 3 wins are won.
