The announcement came at a time when it seems that the company does not want it, as it did not officially announce the new feature and the tweet was deleted minutes later, but after it was spotted by Windows Central and many Twitter blogging site accounts interested and enthusiastic about technology news and new Windows upgrades include the screenshot that Downloads for Notepad are warned internally by Microsoft: ‘Strictly confidential. Do not discuss features or take screenshots.’
The warning from Microsoft indicates that the tabs feature is still under testing and development and in the early stages within the company, but the Notepad tabs feature may reach Windows Insiders early next year.
If Microsoft continues to develop Tabs for Notepad, it will be the first app to get a tabbed interface after File Explorer, which became tabbed earlier this year. Microsoft tested tabs across all Windows 10 software applications four years ago, at the time including support for tabs within Notepad and File Explorer, but Microsoft ultimately canceled the project and Windows 10 didn’t include tabs for all programs as it had intended.
The addition of tabs in Notepad signals a new transformation of Windows programs with the addition of a more lively and user-friendly user interface.
