The former Vice Minister of Tourism, Claudia Cornejo is the new Mincetur holder and will replace Mary Seminary who lasted four days in office.
Cornejo was part of the parliamentary list of the Purple Party, with the number 10, for the extraordinary elections of January of this year. But nevertheless, did not reach the votes for a seat.
Has been civil servant for more than 11 years and for three governments. He also served as Director of Internal Tourism of Promperú, between 2009 and 2010 and as Vice Minister of Tourism between 2011 and 2013, at 29 years of age.
In the last five years she has held positions in the private sector, as director of Consulting at Deloitte Peru between 2014 and 2016. Until 2019 he worked in the Chamber of international trade and also worked as General Manager of Confiep between 2016 and 2019.
Cornejo studied Political Science at Lafayette College, private university in the United States and has a diploma in Commercial Management by the School of Management of the University of Piura.
The sector tourism It is one of the activities hardest hit by the pandemic. The former head of Mincetur, Rocío Barrios commented that tourism was ready to reactivate, although the expansion of flights was given gradually to prevent a second outbreak of Covid-19 in the country.
