Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications becomes a major mobile phone company

The Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications issued administrative guidance to major mobile phone companies on the 22nd, asking them to specify the price of each device when they sell smartphones. Don’t misunderstand that a customer can buy a terminal at a discounted price without signing a line contract, but can receive a large discount only when purchasing a set with a line. On the 21st, an expert panel of the ministry compiled a report calling for clarification of prices.
The targets are NTT Docomo, KDDI (au), Okinawa Cellular Phone, Softbank, and Rakuten Mobile. He also asked for a report on the status of efforts and future policies by October 21.
Laws and regulations limit the discount to 22,000 yen including tax when purchasing a terminal and making a line contract as a set.
