Minnal Murali is the superhero of Kerala, that’s enough, no remake; Basil Joseph
Minnal Murali, a superhero from a small village in Kerala, is being talked about all over India. The film tells the story of how Jason, a commoner in the fox’s corner, becomes a superhero named Minnal Murali and how this incident changes his life.
Following the huge success of the film, a number of Bollywood directors approached Basil Joseph seeking a remake of Minnal Murali. But Basil replied that Minnal Murali is the super hero of Kerala and does not intend to remake it.
‘Minnal Murali is the superhero of a village in Kerala. That personality does not want to go too far. Discussions are ongoing. But I do not intend to go ahead with it, ‘said Basil.
‘I do not want to make a remake of this movie. Let it be a real movie. Haven’t seen Spiderman from many lands, here’s a Spiderman and a Chris. Lightning Murali is enough, ‘added Basil.
Basil also talked about the second part of the movie. ‘There must be a continuum. I have some stories in mind. It is difficult to match the quality of the original story because the original is easy to create. The character here is bigger than life. There are some strategies that can connect the audience to that character, ‘said Basil.
Sofia Paul, the producer of the film, had said that the announcement of the second part of Minnal Murali will be made soon. It will be a bigger movie than the first part. The announcement will be made in January, Sofia Paul said in an interview with The Federal.
The first Malayalam superhero movie Minnal Murali was released on Netflix on the 24th. The film is available on Netflix in six languages, including English.
Netflix has given a huge publicity to Minnal Murali by producing videos of him bringing the Great Khali and Yuvraj Singh and showing a promo on Ain Dubai.
Shibu’s character played by Guru Somasundaram was very impressive. Many people from inside and outside Kerala have seen Minnal Murali and congratulated him on social media.
Former Indian captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni’s wife Sakshi Dhoni and Tamil director Venkat Prabhu have praised Minnal Murali.
Minnal Murali is the third film to be released under the direction of Basil Joseph. The second film to be made by the Tovino Thomas-Basil duo. Earlier, the two were together in Goda.
The film stars Tovino Thomas, Aju Varghese, Guru Somasundaram and Mamukoya. Newcomer Femina George is the heroine of the film.
