Minor suspected of stealing and crashing a bus in Bergen – NRK Vestland

A minor boy has been arrested by the police, suspected of having stolen and crashed a bus in Fanafjellsvegen in Bergen.

The police will not release the exact age of the suspect, but state that he has turned 15 years old.

Stolen from bus parking

On Tuesday morning, the emergency services were notified of the bus that had run off the road and hit the mountainside. There is major material damage to the bus, but no injuries have been reported.

It quickly became known that the bus turned out to have been stolen from Tide’s facility in Krokeidevegen. The police got control of a suspect.

– There is nothing to indicate that it is the same person who stole this bus, as well stole and crashed a truck in Fjellveien, says operations manager in the police Stine Mjelde.

Found by a Tide employee

The bus was found by Tide employees just before 06 o’clock on Tuesday morning after being missing for about 45 minutes.

– We have arrested a young man who was on his way down to Nordvik with keys in his pocket. We have no reason to believe that there have been more involved, says operations manager in the police Ole Bjørn Sveen to NRK.

The minor is taken care of by the police and taken to the emergency room for a check.

– Then we work in parallel with the investigation and also up against the child welfare, Mjelde says.

There is manual routing on site and a tow truck is on its way.
