Foster + Partners explains that they created a map of the project site to do so and fed that data to Spot. They also told you what specific data to collect and what areas to scan thoroughly. Spot not only manages to periodically patrol and obtain data from an area. The architecture studio says that the robot has also helped them produce a digital model of their own London headquarters. The robot dog is equipped with different LiDAR scanners that allow it to obtain detailed data from the environment in three dimensions. Along with other sensors within the building, Spot’s scans enabled the company to get a better handle on how the building is used over time and improve its efficiency.
