Monkeypox is an imminent threat to public health

New York State Health Commissioner Mary T. Bassett, in a statement posted on the state health department’s website: “Based on the ongoing spread of the virus, which has increased rapidly and primarily affected populations identified as MSM, and the need for local government vaccinations, I have declared monkeypox to be represents an immediate public health threat across the state of New York.”
