E-commerce giant Amazon does more than deliver goods at the door: They have also become a major supplier of movies and series via Amazon Prime Video.
Amazon’s power service has been available globally for a few years already, but now it seems that they are seriously focusing on the Nordics. The company today launched a new marketing campaign, as well as a collaboration on content with the film distributor Eros STX.
– It is gratifying to announce that we are increasing our focus on Amazon Prime video in the Nordic region. Now customers get new and exclusive movies and TV series, with a local user interface and many other news pending »says Martin Backlund, Head of Content UK & Nordics, Amazon Prime Video.
– With access to award-winning and exclusive Amazon Originals content, the latest movies and customers’ favorite series, we will continue to invest in good entertainment on Prime Video, so that we give Norwegian customers value for what they pay.
Amazon Prime Video: Great for movies and series
We have in the past tested Amazon Prime Video against competitors such as Netflix, Disney and HBO, where we found that the service maintains a high technical level of image and sound, in addition to having a wide selection of well-known movie classics and series. On the other hand, we missed more original, exclusive and not least locally produced content. Who knows, maybe it can improve in the future?
New movies from ErosSTX
In addition to offering more original Amazon Original content, the company has an exclusive agreement with ErosSTX in the Nordics. The Indian-American production company holds the rights to a number of high-profile films, including The Mauritanian starring Jodie Foster and Benedict Cumberbatch. Later this year will also be critically acclaimed I Care A Lot with Rosamund Pike, Guy Ritchies unnamed spy thriller with Jason Statham, Hugh Grant and Josh Harnett, and finally the action thriller Cop Shop with Gerard Butler.
Here is the list of exclusive Amazon Originals content that will be available during 2021:
