The Netherlands did not flinch against the United States. Very effective, the Dutch have won (3-1) and join the quarter-finals where they will face Argentina or Australia.
The first opportunity was American. Pulisic took advantage of a very poor Dutch clearance to find themselves facing Noppert but he failed to deceive him (3rd). Unable to score, the Americans were immediately punished. After a superb ball comeback, Depay found himself totally alone and was able to adjust Turner on a center of Dumfries (10e).
The Americans reacted all the same by Weah whose shot was blocked by Noppert (43rd). Unfortunately, when we don’t follow through, we get punished. As on the first goal, the American defense was taken aback by a new cross from behind Dumfries who found Blind. Results ? 2-0 just before the break.
The Americans tried to react but Steel was in the right place to save the Dutch on the line after a confused action (49th). A few minutes later, it’s McKennie who stood out but failed to frame (53rd). Opposite, Depay could have afforded a double on a beautiful sentence but Turner was in the right place (61st). After bad control, Wright opened the goal but the angle was too tight and Timber came to save the ball on the line (75th).
Finally, the Americans managed to reduce the score thanks to Wright with great success but it was not enough (76th). Worse, the defense again acted up, leaving Blind plenty of time to center towards Dumfries, also alone (81st).
So here is the Netherlands in the quarter-finals where they now await the 8 p.m. meeting between Argentina and the United States to know their future adversary.
