More than 21,600 new infections in Germany

After the one million Covid-19 cases were exceeded yesterday, more than 20,000 new infections have been added. The RKI also reports 379 deaths within 24 hours.

IIn Germany, more than 21,600 new infections with the coronavirus were recorded within one day. As the Robert Koch Institute (RKI) announced on Saturday morning, citing information from the health authorities, 21,695 new cases of infection were recorded within 24 hours. That is 1,111 fewer cases than the day before.

According to the latest figures from the institute, the number of corona deaths in Germany rose by 379 to 15,965. According to the RKI, a total of 1,028,089 cases of infection have been registered in Germany since the start of the pandemic. The number of people recovered was 711,000.

In the trend, the number of daily deaths was last behind
gone up, which was also expected after the steep increase in new infections.

According to the RKI management report on Friday evening, the so-called seven-day R-value was 0.93. That means that 100 infected
mathematically infect 93 other people. The value represents the occurrence of the infection 8 to 16 days ago. If the value is below 1 for a longer period of time, the infection rate subsides.
