The two Berlin national basketball players Franz and Moritz Wagner are both fit and ready for the pre-season in the NBA.
“I feel good. It was frustrating that I couldn’t play because it means a lot to me. It’s been a frustrating two weeks but the upside is I’m healthy and ready now.” Moritz Wagner.
The older of the two Wagner brothers had to withdraw from the European Championships immediately before the start of the tournament due to an ankle injury. Moritz Wagner signed with Orlando in May 2021, having previously been with the LA Lakers, Washington Wizards and Boston Celtics.
Also his younger brother Franz Wagner feels “ready” before the Orlando Magic’s first practice. He was injured in the round of 16 but was still able to finish the tournament.
At the Orlando Magic media day on Monday, the two Berliners each emphasized how important the bronze medal was for German basketball. “That’s just the beginning. I joked with Franz that I’m glad they only won bronze because that’s motivation to win gold next year,” said Moritz Wagner.
In the summer of 2023, the World Cup will take place in Asia, hosted by Japan, Indonesia and the Philippines.
