One person was killed and another was injured to varying degrees on Monday as they participated as volunteers alongside teams responding to the fire that broke out in the forest. Khandek Tessyana” territorially falling under the municipality of Galaz, (circle of Ghafsai, province of Taounate), indicated the local authorities.
The injured person was evacuated to the Taounate provincial hospital to receive the necessary treatment, the same source added.
The intervention teams made up of all the authorities and services concerned, supported by various technical means, were mobilized to bring the fire under control. It was thus proceeded in a first stage to the security of the inhabitants of Douar Taouraret which is near the hearths of the fire.
The efforts of all stakeholders are continuing on the ground to control the fire which ravaged, according to a provisional report, 33 hectares of the forest area, we conclude.
