LIBREVILLE, March 1 (Infosplusgabon) – Former candidate for the 2016 presidential election, Dieudonné Minlama Mintogo, said on Wednesday, as the One Forest Summit opened in Libreville, that “the organization in Libreville from 1 to March 2 of the summit on the protection of tropical forests “ONE Forest Summit” is an opportunity for the various stakeholders to make up for the delays observed in the mobilization of the funds necessary to support our countries in conservation efforts and in a real diversification of our economies.

Referring to Gabon’s leadership in environmental matters, Mr. Minlama Mintogo recalled that the environmental protection policy “is supported by the unshakeable will of President Ali BONGO ONDIMBA”.

However, he continued, “in view of the sacrifices made, the benefits, commensurate with our commitments, are slow in coming. On this subject, it now seems imperative to me to work to make our environmental policy a essential pillar of our economic and social development”.

“It will be utopian to consider a real conservation policy if it is not followed by ambitious policies for development and the fight against poverty in “conservative” countries, added the politician.

“We expect from this summit firm commitments from the international community in favor of the development of our countries, any other option will lead us to failure and will be perceived by our populations as a great injustice on a planetary scale”, he said. he concluded.
