The death of Elizabeth Carmona Echeverry in Florida, United States, has generated sadness among Quindians. According to information from close friends of the Colombian, a man would have murdered her while she took care of her little nephew in an apartment in Coral Springs.
According to the testimonies, the 10-month-old baby would also have died during the attack.

Although the facts surrounding Carmona’s death are confusing, so far it is known that after opening the door of the building a man shot him without the woman being able to even utter a word. Apparently the attacker had mental problems.
Carmona had been an official of the Administrative Department of Institutional Strengthening (Dafi) of the Mayor’s Office of Armenia and had retired at the beginning of this year. A few weeks ago she traveled to the United States to meet her niece and her little baby in Miami.

The director of Dafi, Juan Esteban Cortés Orozco, pointed out that the Mayor’s Office will pay tribute to the former official.
‘’The news has us quite dismayed, Dr. Elizabeth is remembered for being an excellent person and professional. We know little about the facts, but according to a media outlet in Florida, it mentions that it was a person who, under the influence of drugs, carried out various criminal acts such as the theft of a vehicle, murdered several people, including Dr. Elizabeth and the child, We don’t have more details of the facts,” Cortés said.

The municipal administration reported that this Monday there will be a Eucharist in homage to Carmona and his little nephew.
According to international media, the Florida Police arrested Dale Spidel, a 35-year-old man and suspected of the crime, after finding him naked while walking through the neighborhood.
