What a moment of shock in the Nations League game between the Czech Republic and Portugal!
Cristiano Ronaldo (37) was bleeding profusely from his face. What happened?
The five-time Ballon d’Or winner is violently hit with his arm in the face during a fist defense by Czech goalkeeper Tomas Vaclik (33). After that, the world star is bleeding on the ground and needs to be treated. He looks knocked, especially his nose was affected. Still, the United star can ultimately carry on.
However, even after the blood shock, Ronaldo is anything but smooth. CR7 misses a mega chance miserably when United teammate Bruno Fernandes (28) passes a strong pass back to him but he just hacks into the ground and barely catches the ball (24′). The “shot” trundles harmlessly sideways. The Portuguese captain then indicated that it was the place.

Shortly thereafter, Portugal took the lead through Dalot (33rd) without Ronaldo participating. The next unfortunate Ronaldo scene follows a little later: Bruno Fernandes crosses again strongly to CR7, the world striker completely misses the volley from a good position and chases the ball into the clouds (39th).
In injury time, however, things get really turbulent. First the Portuguese make it 2-0, Fernandes scores (45+2). Then the Czech Republic got in front of the goal again from a corner (45+3), Ronaldo rushed into the penalty area to defend the lead.
He raises his arms protectively in front of his face and blocks the ball with his arms – understandable given his facial injury, but according to video evidence there are rightly penalties.
Lucky for CR7 that Patrick Schick (26) miserably missed the subsequent penalty (45 + 6). The Leverkusen striker’s shot flies a meter over the goal.
In the second half, Dalot scored to make it 3-0 (52′) for Portugal, Jota made it 4-0 (82′) after a header from Ronaldo. There were no more Ronaldo excitement. But there were already enough of them for several games in the first half alone…

Spain-Switzerland 1:2
In the parallel game of Nations League Group 2 of League A, Spain surprisingly loses 2-1 to Switzerland. The Swiss lead was achieved by ex-Dortmunder Akanji (21st), Jordi Alba (55th) equalized before an own goal by Garcia (58th) sealed the Spanish bankruptcy.
A lot remains open in the table: Portugal (ten points) and Spain (eight points) are fighting for group victory in a direct duel on Tuesday, while Switzerland (six points) and the Czech Republic (four points) are fighting to stay in the league A
