Nature and the magical world of La Garrotxa are the protagonists of the family musical The Secret of the Volcano which premieres this Saturday at the Teatre Principal in Olot with a vocation to later tour other stages in the country.
This zero-mile project was born in the spring, in the midst of confinement, when most of the art team was at home unable to work.
“We were stopped and we decided to write a musical, we wanted to talk about La Garrotxa because we thought it would be interesting to have a musical from such a special place, marked by nature and legends,” says Jordi Massegur, who is a screenwriter , artistic director and also performer of the piece.
Thus, this show designed to be seen as a family, delves into the secrets, stories of a village, anecdotes, fables, tales and traditions that are kept inside a volcano in Olot .
The protagonists of the story are Blai and the Moon, two little adventurers who listen to their grandmother’s stories who are especially intrigued by one of the stories set in the middle of the forest, around the Montolivet volcano.
The show, produced by La Quarta Paret, has the acting direction of Daniel Coma -founder and artistic director of the group Les Macedònia- and live music directed by Adrià Aguilera.
Among the performers are Núria López and Jordi Massegur, as well as the little ones Biel Surinyach, Joel Casado, Eloi Sànchez, Heura Oliva and Maria Masmitjà, who will alternate in the four functions scheduled for this weekend in the Garrotxa capital.
With tickets sold out for three of the four sessions in Olot, the team is already working to try The Secret of the Volcano can be seen in other venues across Catalonia.
