A 35-year-old Brazilian with a criminal record and who has tattoos with Nazi references is the alleged perpetrator of the assassination attempt against the country’s vice president, Cristina Fernández.
The alleged attacker, moreover, is son of a Chilean father and an Argentine motheraccording to trans-Andean media Page 12 y Chronicle.
The man, who was arrested after the attack, has been identified as Fernando Andrés Sabag Montiel, who resides in Argentina since 1993 and currently lives in the neighborhood of La Paternal, in Buenos Aires, according to government sources reported to the newspaper La Nación.
According to the newspaper Clarín, in March 2021 the detainee was prosecuted for carrying an unconventional weapon in La Paternal.

However, their profiles on social networks were removed during the early hours, adds the newspaper.
The newspaper Clarín assures that the detainee has several tattoos, some allusive to Viking and Germanic mythologies, including one on the shoulder that represents a “Black Sun”a black sun, a symbol linked to the occult philosophy of Nazism and used by Adolf Hitler’s SS.
Sabag Montiel was arrested on Thursday night after brandishing a firearm and pointing it at the face of the former president who, in a reflexive gesture, crouched in the midst of the escorts who protected her when she arrived at her home in the capital’s neighborhood from Recoleta.
As soon as the news was known, the Argentine President Alberto Fernandezannounced on national television that declared a holiday this Friday and said that “this attack deserves the most energetic repudiation of all Argentine society, of all political sectors, because these events affect our democracy.”
Fernández said that the vice president “remains alive because, for a reason that has not yet been technically confirmed, the weapon, which had five bullets, did not fire despite being triggered.”
