Negotiations on the framework agreement – The Federal Council files a complaint for indiscretion
Internal documents were made public on several occasions during the final phase of negotiations with the European Union. The government spokesperson confirms the filing of a criminal complaint.
The Federal Council lodged a criminal complaint following indiscretions that arose during the decision-making process on the framework agreement. In the final phase of negotiations with the European Union (EU), internal documents were made public on several occasions.
“I can confirm that the Federal Council has lodged a criminal complaint due to indiscretions made within the framework of the framework agreement with the EU”, indicated André Simonazzi, spokesman for the Federal Council in Keystone- ATS, returning to information published on Saturday in the German-speaking newspapers of “Schweiz am Wochenende”.
André Simonazzi could not say which documents these were due to the ongoing proceedings. For its part, the Public Prosecutor’s Office of the Confederation specified that it had opened criminal proceedings against unknown persons for suspicion of violation of official secrecy.
In recent weeks, the Swiss media have used “leaked” documents: SRF radio and television used an internal document listing the consequences of a breakdown in negotiations, the “SonntagsBlick” published an excerpt from the negotiating mandate , and a co-report by Defense Minister Viola Amherd was unveiled by “Tages-Anzeiger”.
