Alas, the slow recovery of the Russian car market has stopped. After the most disastrous result in May (27458 new cars), sales grew every month: June – 32731 copies, July – 35583, August – 42593, September – 44398. But in October (more precisely, on September 21) this trend was interrupted. According to the agency Autostat, in the tenth month of this year, 43,308 new passenger cars were registered (this includes both official and “parallel” sales). This is 2.5% less than in September. And when compared with October last year, our market has collapsed by 63.1%.

Even Lada sank a little, although this brand still accounts for almost 40% of sales: 17,113 cars in October. Kia (2738 cars) has already left the top three market leaders, and now the Chinese brands Haval (4316) and Chery (3838) have firmly established themselves in the ranking after Lada. And only five brands from China showed sales growth in October: Haval, Great Wall, Changan, JAC and Exeed. In general, Chinese cars accounted for almost 30% of all sales.

Lada Granta (10,978 cars in October) remains the Russian bestseller, occupying more than a quarter of the entire market. And in second place, with a huge lag, is the Tula-assembled Haval Jolion crossover (3049). Vesta and Largus are already running out of stock, but Niva Travel and Niva Legend, who returned to the conveyor, have joined the top five. Of the surprises, more than a twofold increase in sales of Hyundai Elantra sedans (434 units): in the summer a large batch of these cars came from Korea.

In just ten months of 2022, 518,000 new cars were sold in Russia. This is almost 60% less than in the same period last year. In January-October, Lada accounted for 26% of sales (134 thousand cars).
