The second wave of the coronavirus worries more and more with its share of deaths and a considerable increase in new infections. Thus, during the Council of Ministers, this Wednesday, January 13, held by videoconference, the President of the Republic recalled that the exponential spread, the severity and the gravity of the disease, with regard to the capacities and advice of the experts of our system health, led it to declare a state of emergency with a curfew on the extent of the most affected regions: Dakar and Thiès.
On this, Macky Sall invited “the Minister of Health to continue the effective and rapid decentralization in the regions of the national SAMU”. According to him, the logistical means and the human and financial resources of this key structure must be reinforced without delay. Also, the President of the Republic “indicated the need to accelerate the urgent implementation of the national vaccination strategy, endowed with a substantial budget”.
Also in the press release, the President of the Republic emphasized the gravity of the situation. In this regard, it is argued, he insisted on national mobilization 24 hours a day to sensitize populations on the imperative to respect barrier gestures and health protocols, to regulate the opening and closing hours of markets and of readjusting the functioning of health establishments (hospitals, health centers, etc.). This, in addition to deploying with the national SAMU, preventive and pragmatic systems of care at home and monitoring a possible mutation of the virus and more control of entries at our borders.
In the meantime, Macky Sall “welcomes the certification of Blaise Diagne de Diass International Airport (AIBD) to the health accreditation program of the International Council of Airports (ACI Monde).
In addition, the President of the Republic asked, “in this general context, the sectoral ministers to reorganize with the actors, the temporary adaptation of economic and social activities during this month of January 2021”.
