Prime Minister Jean Castex is expected to announce at a press conference on Thursday new restrictions to fight Covid-19. A new confinement seems, a priori, excluded.

Assessment and outlook, this will be the menu of the weekly government press conference conducted Thursday afternoon by Jean Castex. At his side, the Minister of Health, Olivier Véran, will thus detail the first assessment of the evolution of the epidemic during the Christmas holidays. Then the Prime Minister will detail the decisions taken Wednesday morning with Emmanuel Macron in the Health Defense Council. The hypothesis of a new confinement, which has always remained an option, still seems ruled out, as Olivier Véran already affirmed on Sunday during the Grand Rendez-vous CNews-Europe1-Les Echos and government spokesman Gabriel Attal on Monday on Europe 1.

At the same time, the vaccine campaign against Covid-19 is entering a new phase on Thursday, since those over 75 can now make an appointment, by phone (the number will be announced this evening) or on the Internet (via Santé.fr and the private platforms Doctolib, Maiia and Keldoc). Jean Castex and Olivier Véran will pay a visit to Metz (Moselle) in the morning on this theme.
