Opening a new chapter in the history of the brand with lightning, the new Astra is revealed through a first series of images. Expected at the end of 2021, it will be entitled to a plug-in hybrid version.
At Opel, trendy novelties follow one another. After launching last year the new electric mokka, the lightning brand is attacking the compact segment with the new generation of the Astra.
In terms of design, this new Astra will inherit the aesthetic evolutions introduced by the Opel Mokka. The new pictures unveiled by the manufacturer thus reveal the new Vizor grille. Inside, the atmosphere promises to be resolutely high-tech with the new generation of the Pure Panel console composed of two screens forming a single block.
On the technical side, the manufacturer does not yet give any information. However, we know that it will be based on the EMP2 platform from Stellantis. Already used on board theOpel Grandland X and some new Peugeot 308, it is available in traction or in all-wheel drive. At this stage, it is not known whether the brand will use one or the other or whether it will choose to use both variants.
Sedan or station wagon
Made in Germany, the new Astra plug-in hybrid will be industrialized in Rüsselsheim.
Two body styles are on the program: five-door sedan and Sports Tourer station wagon. It will be marketed at the end of the year.
