New York Knicks seize NBA rights from Ante Tomic

Movement in the NBA market a few hours after the 2020 draft is held. And a rather curious one that affects Ante Tomic, center of Joventut de Badalona. The New York Knicks have acquired the rights to the Croatian pivot in the North American League from the Utah Jazz and the 23rd pick in the draft. The Salt Lake City franchise, in exchange, reel picks pick 27 and 38 tonight, early in the morning in Spain (01:00 hours, #Vamos).

Tomic was selected in 2008 in the second round, ranked 44 out of 60, when he stood out in the KK Zagreb of his native country. However, he never traveled to Utah. In 2010 he arrived at Real Madrid, where he played 106 games in ACB and 47 in the Euroleague until 2012 when he signed for Barça.

Foreigner with more games at Barça

He spent the next eight seasons with the Barça team: he won one Endesa League and three King’s Cups. He defended the Catalan jersey in 311 matches in the Spanish tournament and 236 in the top continental competition, becoming the foreigner with the most games in the culé basketball section (579). In addition, he is the second highest rebounder, the third in valuation and the sixth in scoring.

The Croatian pivot, now 33, signed this summer with Joventut for two seasons plus an optional third. Everything indicates that he will end his career in La Penya and not in the NBA… Although his rights in the North American League continue to be a bargaining chip in different transfers.
