New York Police have announced the arrest of the alleged assailant of Canadian actor Rick Moranis, famous for his roles in the films “Ghostbusters” and “Honey, I Cut the Children”.
Apprehended on Saturday, Marquis Ventura was charged with the attack which occurred around 7:25 a.m. on October 1 in Manhattan, near Central Park. According to footage provided by police to locate the assailant, the suspect runs into the 67-year-old comedian on a sidewalk and gives him a hard punch in the head for no apparent reason. Rick Moranis collapsed to the ground as the assailant continued on his way as if nothing had happened.
“The 35-year-old suspect is now facing a seventh assault charge this year,” New York City Police Chief Transit Chief Kathleen O’Reilly said on Twitter Saturday.
She praised the vigilance of a sergeant in her unit who would have made it possible to identify the aggressor.
Following the attack that occurred near his home, Rick Moranis managed to get to a nearby hospital, the New York Daily News reported. He was treated for pain in his right hip, head and back.
When he was released from the hospital, the comedian of Ontario origin complained to the police.
