New Zealand series: Indian women win last ODI

Queenstown: The Indian women won the last ODI against the New Zealand women by a huge margin. India won the fifth and final ODI of the series by six wickets. India opener Soumriti Manthana, Harmanpreet Kaur and skipper Mithali Raj scored half-centuries to help India reach the target of 252 runs.

In reply, the Indian women lost wickets of Shefali Verma and Deepti Sharma in the opening over, but Smriti Manthana was the standout batsman with 71 off 84 balls. When Amelia Care dismissed Manthana, the team score was 150. Queenstown has witnessed the strong comeback of former captain Harmanpreet, who has been criticized for his lack of form.

Harmanpreet, who scored 63 off 66 balls, was dismissed to seal India’s victory. Earlier, the New Zealand women won the toss and elected to bat. Kerr scored 66 off 75 balls. Score New Zealand: 251-9, India 255-4 (46).
