The walk that a couple from the municipality of Santander de Qulichao undertook at the intake of the Palo River, in the rural area of Caloto, ended in tragedy. both lost their lives under the waters of the Caucano River, as reported by the authorities.
The municipal government secretary, Joaquín Castañeda, explained that Yeraldin Cardona, 21, and his partner, Erick Dimarzo Correa Magallet, 30, were in a spa in the corregimiento of El Palo.

The official recounts that despite the mighty river, Correa decided to submerge but did not come out, which led Yeraldin to make the decision to look for him, but she also remained trapped in the waters of the river.
Shortly after, the woman’s body was found. Approximately two hours later, the man’s body was also found by rescuers.
Given this situation, the authorities recommended not using this type of spas to avoid tragedies.

Hours later in the municipality of Puerto Tejada, north of Cauca, two minors also lost their lives. Residents of the sector say that around 3 in the afternoon, a group of young people played soccer on the field of the Las dosaguas neighborhood.
After the meeting, some of them plunged into the river that bears the same name as the neighborhood. After a few minutes, two minors were unable to leave despite the rescue attempts of relatives, friends and relief agencies.
