“Next Generation FDI” is a once-in-a-generation opportunity

“Today we announced the launch of the Next Generation FDI initiative,” said Dr. Thani bin Ahmed Al Zeyoudi, UAE Minister of State for Foreign Trade.

He added that it is a new global initiative to attract the brightest companies and minds to the UAE, and with the joining of 7 of the most important strategic partners to accelerate the process of entering the market.

He stressed that this business-friendly initiative is a once-in-a-generation opportunity.

Al Zeyoudi explained to “Al Ain News” that as for attracting foreign direct investment to the UAE, it creates jobs for skilled experts in the future sectors in the country.

This was evidenced by examples that included the relevant sectors within the UAE in the areas of programming, information, data analysis and artificial intelligence.

He continued, “These areas provide an opportunity to develop other traditional sectors, as the presence of these companies has a direct and indirect impact on the service sectors in the UAE.”

He pointed out that the impact of these companies also on the national product will be significant.

He explained that the beginning was through communicating with the most important partners in these areas, and then there will be an expansion of communication with everyone, to reflect the importance of communication and work to provide diversity and spread for these new sectors in the UAE.

Regarding the main objective of the initiative, he said that it is to ensure the access and presence of future companies to the UAE, and to give an example of how other countries adopt methodologies to attract these future companies.

He added: “We want the UAE to be the main destination for these future sectors, and to be one of the first countries to work on the governance of these companies, so that we ensure that its impact also has on traditional sectors, including those dependent on digital technology, and to keep pace with the speed at which the world is moving.”
