Cologne (SID) – The Minnesota Wild with the German ice hockey professional Nico Sturm (26) have won their opening game in the North American professional league NHL at the Anaheim Ducks. The native of Augsburg, who scored eleven goals last season, was on the ice for ten minutes at 2: 1 and remained without a scorer point. Marcus Foligno scored the winning goal for the guests from Minnesota in the final third.
Sturm is one of six Germans in the NHL. The center, which was trained by the Augsburg EV and ESV Kaufbeuren, has been playing for Minnesota since 2019, and last year Sturm was regularly on the ice for the first time in the world’s best ice hockey league.
