Nikita Mazepin wants to return to F1 but also looks at rally conversion[F1-Gate .com]

Nikita Mazepin said he hopes to return to F1 but has the potential to maintain his motor racing career in off-road rallies.

Nikita Mazepin suddenly lost his F1 seat after the rise of the Haas F1 Team in Russia’s invasion of Ukraine and the severance of its relationship with title sponsor URALCHEM.

“If the aggression hadn’t happened, everything would have been the same,” said Guenther Steiner, head of the Haas F1 Team.

“We were really trying to make this situation work, but when I saw the media photos of people who were bombed and just shot, this didn’t work.”

23-year-old Nikita Mazepin and his father, Dmitry Mazepin, the father of the billionaire oligarch, have been sanctioned throughout Europe and have recently been confiscated by Italian authorities for € 100 million in Sardinian property.

“My career has been suspended,” he told Nikita Mazepin to Ria Novosti.

“But I’ve been in motorsport for 18 years and I’m not going to leave. I’m in good shape and hope to return to F1.”

“If that doesn’t work, consider other options for racing on four wheels. I’m interested in racing in the desert. Dakar is a possibility. Also the Silk Way Rally.”

Until then, Nikita Mazein says he is “positive” and is working “five days a week” on a new foundation to help other Russian athletes struggling under Western sanctions.

“My life changed dramatically in just one month,” said Nikita Mazepin.

“There are still months by the end of the year. Can you imagine how much will happen and change?”

“But I’m going to continue my career. So far, I’m aiming for a tournament in Russia.”

“I truly believe that every bad thing in life has a beginning and an end, and this bad stage will come to an end.

“I have multiple helmets and want to go back to F1.”
